This is an old technique referred to as 'telkari' that really highlights the skill of the goldsmith.  Individual thin wires are formed by hand into wavelike strands that are then composed into this radial medallion.  The effect is sheer radiance in 24k gold.  A matching set of earrings is also available, as well as a smaller diameter of the motif.
